POINT 01

POINT 02

WELCOME MD 2025

Welcome to the 6th International Conference on Medical Design (MD2025), jointly organized by the Medical Design Association (Taiwan), Smart Medical City (敏盛智醫城), and Chang Gung University. This year’s conference will take place in the heart of Taoyuan, Taiwan—a rising hub for health-tech innovation and cross-sector collaboration.

Building on the success of previous MD conferences, MD2025 continues to provide an international, interdisciplinary platform for dialogue and exchange among scholars, clinicians, engineers, designers, industry leaders, and policymakers. Themed “Next-Gen Digital Health: AI, Automation, and Human-Centered Innovation,” this year’s program explores the transformative potential of emerging technologies in shaping the future of healthcare systems around the world.

As the global population ages and healthcare demands rise, the convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, and human-centered design has become crucial for delivering scalable, ethical, and inclusive health solutions. MD2025 brings these frontiers into focus, with curated keynotes, panels, workshops, and paper sessions addressing five central themes:

POINT 02

• AI and Automation in Smart Healthcare: From intelligent diagnostics and predictive analytics to personalized therapy and AI-powered assistants, we explore how automation enhances medical decision-making and care delivery efficiency.
• Data-Driven Innovation and Ethical Challenges: In a time where data is the new currency of digital health, we examine pressing concerns including data privacy, algorithmic bias, regulatory governance, and the societal impact of health data use.
• Telehealth Integration and Remote Care Solutions: The evolution of 5G and cloud computing paves the way for advanced telemedicine tools—from virtual care platforms to AI-assisted remote surgery—especially in addressing healthcare gaps in underserved areas.
• Human Factors and Experience-Driven Design: Beyond function and performance, digital health must be intuitive and accessible. This theme emphasizes the importance of inclusive, user-centered design that adapts to diverse health needs.
• Generative AI for Health Innovation: From large language models (e.g., ChatGPT, Bard) to AI-driven clinical support and patient education, we investigate how generative AI can be responsibly integrated into real-world medical workflows.

We invite you to take part in this dynamic exchange of ideas, technologies, and global perspectives. Whether you are presenting cutting-edge research, showcasing innovative products, or networking for future collaborations, MD2025 promises a fertile ground for interdisciplinary synergy and impactful transformation. We are honored to welcome you to Taiwan and look forward to shaping the future of smart and human-centered healthcare—together.

POINT 01

Welcome Message from the Founding Chair

As the Founding Chair, it is my honour to welcome you to the International Conference on Medical Design (MD2025). The MD conference series was first established in 2018 during my presidency of the Medical Design Association, with the vision of creating a global platform dedicated to advancing medical design innovation, education, and collaboration.

Over the years, the MD series has brought together scholars, clinicians, engineers, designers, industry leaders, and policymakers to share insights and explore solutions at the intersection of design, technology, and healthcare. Each edition has strengthened our community, expanded interdisciplinary dialogue, and contributed to shaping the future of medical products, systems, services and practices worldwide.

This year, MD2025 takes place in Smart Medical City, Taoyuan, under the theme “Next-Gen Digital Health: AI, Automation, and Human-Centred Innovation.” We aim to explore how emerging technologies can transform healthcare while keeping human needs and values at the core.

I warmly welcome you to join us in this important journey. I believe that MD2025 will be a profoundly enriching experience, and I look forward to the knowledge, partnerships, and inspiration that will emerge from our time together.
